The Wildthings are a group of High School seniors who have been earning all of their own money to take an annual trip to help wildlife for 7 years now. These trips are funded by events such as native seed selling and hosting film events, such as this one. They spend over a week each summer in places such as wolf and turtle rescue sites, and lands in need of habitat restoration in Texas, California, and New Mexico. Their work has involved endangered salmon stream restoration, landscape and building construction, the feeding, veterinary care, and cage cleaning for animals, and invasive weed removal. Some of the sites where they work are grass roots organizations, others are with land conservancies. These girls are incredibly hard working and to date have earned over $20,000, all of which is spent taking the working trip or donating to environmental causes – like supporting the elephants at the Afghan Zoo.
